Oscar Morris, graphic designer at SPD Austin, created the winning design in the AIGA Austin Funk Alley t-shirt contest. The t-shirt contest was judged by all the event attendees, so is truly a proud achievement for the studio. Approximately once a year, the Austin chapter of AIGA holds a bowling night, with a different music genre as the theme of the evening. This year's theme was 1970s "funk" music, and Oscar's winning design played on the band name Earth Wind & Fire, as well as the colors and typefaces popular in the heyday of funk music. Upon winning the award, Oscar said, "Big thanks to Judy Schulz and the rest of the AIGA crew for putting on these bowling events every year. It's always a good excuse to hang out, have some Shiners, and of course, design ridiculous t-shirts!"
